Hello my dreamers, in this penultimate article about my trip to Vietnam in 2016, I take you to Phu Quoc, this beautiful island located in the south, very close to Cambodia. This article will be rather short, moreover, I do not have many photos unfortunately :/ but I recommend this island!
If you want to read or re-read my previous articles, here they are:
“eating at the hotel restaurant, on the beach, with my feet in the sand”
After spending 10 days waking up early, walking a lot, and doing tours all day with my backpack, I needed a few days to do nothing, rest, and sleep late. From Da Nang, I took an internal flight with Jetstar Pacific for a little less than 60€, and in 2 hours with a stopover in Ho Chi Minh-City, I was on the island of Phu Quoc to enjoy the beach.
On booking.com I paid 116€ for 4 nights at Liên Hiệp Thành Homestay & Beach Bar. My room was super simple but with everything I needed and most importantly, it was only 1 minute from the beach! I loved eating at the hotel restaurant, on the beach, with my feet in the sand. Besides, the food was good! When I went there (early December), there were very few people so I felt like I had the beach to myself!
“One of the best things I have done in my life”
I did a tour (though) of about 9 hours with John’s Tours in the south of Phu Quoc for only 13€. During the tour, I saw the extraction of an oyster pearl in front of a shop specializing in pearls, which sold lots of beautiful jewelry.
Then, for the first time in my life, I learned how to fish a small fish in the middle of the ocean, and above all, I snorkeled! We were in a place where the sea was clear and shallow (but with a lot of garbage anyway :/) and where there were lots of colorful fishes! I thought I was in Finding Nemo, it was wonderful! I experienced my very first snorkeling as if I was discovering a new world, it was an amazing experience, one of the best things I have done in my life. I regretted not having bought a waterproof camera because after this trip I snorkeled again but it was not as beautiful as in Phu Quoc nor with so many fishes.
By the way, we say that the best nuoc mam sauce (the famous and delicious fish sauce with which we eat spring rolls for example) from Vietnam comes from Phu Quoc so if you want to buy some, you are in the right place!
And you, tell me about one of the best things you did on a trip 🙂
