Hello and welcome to my travel & lifestyle blog 🙂
My nickname is Evy Dreamer, simply because my name is Evy and I wanted to be identified especially as being a big dreamer (heavy dreamer) because dreaming not only allows me to have a good night ^^ but also to escape, to imagine things big and to go beyond what I think possible to achieve what drives me.
Why writing a blog?
Because I love to write, but it has been a few years since I stopped writing because my time was excessively devoted to my studies and my work but also because I no longer had inspiration, no more subject that fascinates me. As a result, I have long felt that I have “passed out” and become a robot that just works -_-
When I was younger, I wrote stories and poems (especially when I was sad haha). I aspired to exercise a creative profession, as writing in the cinema or advertising (which is not at all my profession today) because through our writings, we can inspire, convey a message, raise awareness, change things, unite, tell beautiful stories that move, that make you smile or dream … This is why I see writing as an art, a power, and an outlet.
Why the theme of travel?
I have always had a strong interest in abroad without having previously lived elsewhere than in France. I speak French, a little Vietnamese and at school, I learned English, Spanish, Italian and Korean, which I can’t speak fluently, because of a lack of practice, unfortunately. At one point I had also started to learn Japanese and to read Greek (there is no link between them lol) on my own. The first trip that marked me as an adult and which really gave me a taste for travel was the one I took for 6 weeks in South Korea, in 2013. Nevertheless, it was after my one-month solo trip to Vietnam, at the end of 2016, that I had the idea to write about my travels because it became a passion, that I wanted to share through a blog. Linking my 2 passions which are writing and traveling, was the ideal project. But I have never published this blog because I was too demanding of myself, in addition to the fact that I doubted, procrastinated, put this idea aside …
4 years later, here it is finally …
In 2020, during the lockdowns due to COVID-19, I decided to turn these hard periods into good ones and make the most of them. I took advantage of this time, locked in my home, to finally get started publishing my blog even if my first articles relate to old memories. My need and my desire to be something other than a robot, to realize a personal project to accomplish me differently, to flourish, to find myself, to recover my identity, the one who wrote, to focus on what makes me happy, have been increased in this exceptional context. I decided that at least one good change had to happen in my life thanks to this ordeal and I decided that it would be this blog, my “bubble of happiness” that allowed me to stay positive and which I think will bring me much more. I am aware that the period when I am going to start publishing my articles is not the most suitable for travel, but in my opinion, it is the one during which we most need to dream and escape, so I hope to make you travel (metaphorically) and make you want to go to these places I have been to, as soon as the situation allows it. Finally, some things will surely be different or no longer possible compared to what will be written in my articles, because of these 4 wasted years and especially following the pandemic, so I have no choice but to pretend nothing has changed, hoping that one day everything will return to normal.
This is the whole journey that has brought me here, to this travel AND lifestyle blog too, to talk about a way of thinking and therefore of living. I feel like a phoenix rising from its ashes haha so I finally feel ready to take a new feather to share with you some of what is in my head (in the clouds), my happy memories which mean so much to me, my positive thoughts, without any pretensions or selling points, but just hoping that this will give you even an ounce of positive or a desire to exchange with me and that you will have as much pleasure in reading me as I will have in writing.
