Hello my dreamers,
I hope you’re doing well!
After all these articles:
…we’re coming to the end of my stories in Greece. Like the previous one, this article will be special because its content only focused on an exceptional place where I stayed, written without collaboration. Just with all my enthusiasm 😀 and my desire here to share with you an amazing and “affordable” accommodation to have the view you dreamed of on the Caldera.
Damigos Caldera World
When I was looking for dream hotels/villas where to spend 1 night (yes, only 1 night because it’s expensive lol) with my boyfriend to celebrate our 10th anniversary in Santorini, on one hand, I found North Santorini in Pyrgos (my forever crush lol which I told you about in my previous article). On the other hand, I found Damigos Caldera World (ex Villa Maria Damigou in 2019) in Firostefani which I’m going to tell you about here…because I couldn’t choose between these two accommodations X’D
An opportunity to seize
I had initially chosen North Santorini, giving up Damigos Caldera World but the days passed and I kept thinking about it. Firstly, because the hotel room and the view were BREATHTAKING. Secondly, because unlike the North Santorini terrace, this one had a caldera view. Thirdly, because the price for 1 night was a bargain. With the view of the caldera, the price for 1 night was barely 58€ more expensive than the other and it was the lowest price among all the hotels/villas I had seen. I couldn’t give it up, I said to myself “Usually we don’t do such madness, it’s the first time and it’s for our 10th anniversary, so let’s enjoy!”. So we also booked 1 night in the Deluxe Suite with caldera view at the Damigos Caldera World hotel, breakfast included, for 300€ (90€ paid when booking and 210€ on-site) for our last night in Greece ˆˆ
Given the exorbitant prices that can be practiced in this very touristy area and reserved for the wealthy, let’s be honest, the hotel that I am suggesting to you is much more affordable.
3 years later, I see that the price has not changed too much. It obviously depends on the period but I am able to find 1 night at 305€.
My opinion in all objectivity and transparency
The villa is well located, in a quiet area but not far from the bustling restaurants. In addition, there were not many tourists when we were there.
However, I do not find it practical for people with reduced mobility or even if you have heavy luggage because there are only stairs to access the reception and the suite. Besides, it’s very strange because to access the suite we booked, we had to go through the mini terrace of another room. Then, we had to go down the stairs to reach the terrace of the suite because there is no other entry. We were too embarrassed for our neighbors 🙈
There was a little bit of humidity in the suite and a few tiny bugs near the front door and in the bathroom. Otherwise, everything else was clean. The suite has only 2 rooms. In the first one, there is a small lounge/dining room, a mini kitchen with a window on the bathroom (a little weird lol), and the sleeping area with also a small dressing table. In the second room, there are toilets and a large shower.
Besides, the receptionist was nice and the breakfast to be taken near the reception was good and plentiful.
The only hotel with a “hidden” jacuzzi
What I particularly liked was of course the superb view of the caldera but also the jacuzzi with real privacy on the terrace. When looking for hotels/villas on the internet, I only saw terraces with a jacuzzi in full view of everyone (and I saw plenty of them on the spot). So for me, this truly private hot tub is a big asset. Moreover, the price of this suite was even cheaper than elsewhere.
Honestly, I preferred the villa in Pyrgos. Nevertheless, I have no regrets that I came to this beautiful suite in Firostefani, I recommend it. It was a very nice place to enjoy our last night in Santorini, fall asleep and wake up in front of the caldera 😍
This is how I close this chapter on my romantic stay in Greece. Feel free to tell me what you thought of it, especially of my last 2 special articles, and to give me your feedback on Greece if you have already been there.
