My excursion to Naxos

Posted on March 15, 2022April 3, 2022 Location Naxos

This post is also available in: Français (French)

Hello my dreamers,

I hope you are well 🙂

After my first article on the island of Paros and its villages, I continue with this little article about the island of Naxos!

“with all these modified schedules, it’s better not to book anything important after or even before boarding”

For our round trip Paros-Naxos by ferry, we booked our tickets on directferries.com with Blue Star Ferries, for a total of 68€ for 2 people. As I already mentioned for our journeys between Santorini and Paros in my previous article, it was the same for our journeys between Paros and Naxos. Indeed, the ferry did not leave on time and once it was even more than an hour late! So my 2 tips are first, collect your tickets from the agency as soon as possible on D-Day, to know the “final” departure time as soon as possible. Because I think it’s never the same as the one we chose when booking online. Secondly, with all these modified schedules, it’s better not to book anything important after or even before boarding.

Apollo’s Temple

When you get out of the ferry, just walk 5 minutes to the left to reach Apollo’s temple, from where you have a very nice view of Naxos. There, we walked all day, and sometimes we were forced to walk on the road (it lacked a bit of sidewalks lol).

Lunch at Maro’s Taverna restaurant

We had lunch at Maro’s Taverna restaurant as it was well rated. Indeed, we were not disappointed by the tasty dishes at affordable prices, except for the moussaka, which was also huge. I love this Greek dish, so I was looking forward to eating it in Greece but it was a disappointment 😔 or I don’t like the “real” recipe, I don’t know 🤔 Luckily, I found the rest very good (a starter with cheese and super good garlic mushrooms)!

“A great view of the beach and the sea”

Before leaving, we found what looked like a very large abandoned building on top of a hill. To get there, when you get off the ferry, you have to walk along the port on the right. From up there, we had a great view of the beach and the sea.

The different faces of Naxos

Personally, I find that this island has several faces. There are :

  • the old side with the modest houses in the narrow and typically Greek streets as if we were in a small village.

  • the very touristy side near the port with a pretty and lively city center.

  • the “big city” side with big houses, big streets and a lot of traffic but not attractive for tourists.

  • the “small town” side not far from the beach where it seems that everyone knows each other.

To conclude, we really liked Naxos! Have you been there before? What other islands would you recommend to me?

See you soon for my next article about…Santorini! 😃

🇬🇧 Some time ago, I suddenly decided to visi 🇬🇧 Some time ago, I suddenly decided to visit 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗺𝘀 for a day 🤷🏻‍♀️. I admit it was a bit short as it's about 3 hours from Paris by 🚙 but it was worth it.

I found it to be a pretty and dynamic city where the population is young and where life seems good 👍

And you, what do you think about Reims, have you ever been there?

Now that my company allows us to have unlimited holidays, I think why not spend some weekends here and there to visit parts of France...if I have the 💶 for 😅

🇬🇧 09/06 is my feast day (?) but also the 🎂 of the person who gave me the most noteworthy 🥺 (and surprising) compliment until today, while it dates from more than 10 years.

She told me "You are transparent but as soon as we know you, we only see you".

However, I have never been very close to this person and we had only spoken to each other at a certain time but her words were enough for me to never forget her and her 🎂.

Also, that same year, one of the people I ❤️ the most, had on the contrary, the most 💔 words, to the point of burying ⚰️ the person I was before becoming a new one.

All this to say that 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀 have a meaning, a goal, an impact. They can mark a person for life or even change the course of their life. We can forget having said something that a person will never forget. We are responsible for what we say, this is why we must always think and measure our words ⚖️. Let’s always try to be nice to others, otherwise, it’s better to remain silent and go our own way 🙏

❤️ if you agree

🇬🇧 Did you know that the Palace of Vaux-le-V 🇬🇧 Did you know that the Palace of Vaux-le-Vicomte served as a model for the Palace of Versailles? 😮

It is for this reason that the King 𝗟𝗼𝘂𝗶𝘀 𝗫𝗜𝗩 called on the same craftsmen including the architect Le Vau, the landscaper Le Nôtre and the painter Le Brun, to build the Palace of Versailles.

🤔 Speaking of Louis XIV, it reminds me of the movie 📽️ "The Man in the Iron Mask" 🎭, a 1998 film, inspired by real events, with Leonardo Di Caprio as the main actor 😍 It's awesome, have you ever seen it?

Have you ever seen this 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝘂𝗺𝗽𝗵𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵 from this angle?

Actually, going back to Paris made me a bit in low spirits 😞, like after every vacation to be honest lol. Continuing to admire its beauty through its monuments helps me to remember its magic lol 😅
