Hi my dreamers, I hope you are doing well.
In this last part, I’m going to tell you about shows I attended in New York City. I wanted to end the story of my trip there with a “fireworks display” (although I have very few photos for this part, sorry!) because Americans know how to put on a show !!
I hope you enjoyed my previous articles which you will find here:
After that, I hope you’ll have enough information to be able to plan a great stay there in the near future.

Jazz club
Being in New York City, we absolutely wanted to go to a jazz club. For that, I chose Smalls in Greenwich Village, where I read very good reviews on the internet. The club is located in the basement, it is very small and intimate, which allows us to be close to the artists during concerts (that was cool before the Covid…).
The night we were there, we attended a good concert with Lezlie Harrison and the fantastic guitarist, Matt Chertkoff. Despite the very small crowded room and the few chairs (my boyfriend remained standing), we had a great evening!
Currently, I can’t find any info on their site, but at the time we were there, adult admission was $ 20 with no obligation to consume. Here is their website: https://www.smallslive.com/

Gospel in church
One Sunday morning at 9:00 am, we went to The Brooklyn Tabernacle Church to listen to some gospel music. I chose it because it was not very far from our Airbnb, it was big and according to the website, there were very good singers (awarded, on tour…). By the way, CDs are for sale on their website but it’s not as good as in real life ˆˆ
First of all, the church is huge and beautiful! Everyone warmly welcomed the people who came for the first time. For a few minutes, everyone had to greet and exchange a few words with their neighbors. There was a very warm and caring atmosphere. The icing on the cake was the religious songs, what we came for…
I have rarely heard anything so beautiful. I don’t have the words to say how beautiful, powerful, and moving it was. It made me want to convert and come back every week lol XD! I wonder if there can be a better choir than this. This morning at The Brooklyn Tabernacle is one of my best memories of New York City, so I recommend it!
Plus we weren’t many foreigners so it wasn’t a touristy church. Indoors, taking photos and videos is prohibited, so it’s a better reason to go to see and listen by yourselves!

Show in Broadway
Going to New York City without seeing a show on Broadway, the theater and musical capital, was unthinkable to me. That’s why I bought tickets to see Aladdin’s show on broadway.com. It was expensive, $ 300 for 2 people being located on the mezzanine level of the New Amsterdam Theater but it was definitely worth the cost!
I have never seen such a show, it was fantastic! There can be only Broadway to do a Broadway show! The actors and dancers were excellent! I loved Iago (very funny, played by Don Darryl Rivera) and especially the genius (played by Major Attaway). He was totally shining, energetic, funny, with a communicative laugh and joie de vivre, this role was made for him! Jasmine was very beautiful, the sets were superb, the special effects were very well done (ingenious appearances and disappearances of the genius!), especially with the flying carpet !! This scene was the one I was waiting for the most and it was magical! It was stunning, the carpet really looked like it was flying in the air!
To conclude, I loved this show 😍 I advise anyone who goes to New York City, to go if possible to see a show on Broadway, a real American show. And if you go there, enjoy every second as much as possible because photos and videos are prohibited here too =x
And you, have you also had the opportunity to see a show that amazed you in New York City?
Hope you enjoyed this New York City chapter 🙂 see you soon!
